The EHA initiative is driven by a collective commitment to improving humanitarian efforts and their outcomes. After the completion of a Humanitarian Action Challenge (HAC) research project, teams comprising humanitarian practitioners and researchers from Switzerland’s two Federal Institutes of Technology (EPFL and ETH Zurich) are encouraged to translate and implement their solutions in real-world settings where they are most needed.

HAC grantees have the opportunity to apply for additional funding through EHA to support the implementation and testing of their solutions. Research projects that demonstrate potential and a commitment to testing their results within the operational context of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) are eligible to apply for this funding. Within each team, the ICRC project sponsor is tasked with applying for implementation funding through the EHA initiative.

Given that this initiative is currently in a pilot phase, the ICRC’s EHA coordination team will provide guidance throughout the application process, offering applicants a comprehensive toolkit to assist with their submissions.

For more detailed information about the implementation stream and the application process for grants, we encourage you to contact the ICRC coordination team directly. They are available to provide assistance and answer any questions you may have.
